Most balconies are designed for 40 pounds per square foot at a minimum.
The reality is that it will be higher but this will depend on a great number of factors that you won’t readily be able to identify. A short list would be:
- Strength of materials used
- Factor of safety used
- Were over-sized materials used?
- Size of fasteners used
- Quality of construction
- Age of materials
- Type of environment
- Cyclical ware or abuse of balcony
